This resulted in a very small bone thrown to the politicians who have been trying to adopt legislation to audit the FED. Led by Rep. Ron Paul and Senators alike, the bill came to a vote last week. After extraordinary lobbying on the part of the FED and their paid politicians who came to their aid, the bill was voted down. However, the proponents were strong enough and forceful enough to get through a provision which allows Congress the ability to audit the FED on just one occasion. Congress wants to find out the names of the Europeans primarily who received TARP payoff money. I doubt much filth will be uncovered because the FED will have several months to prepare. I’m sure there will be a shortage of paper shredding trucks in the meantime. The veil of secrecy must be protected at all costs. If not, every FED chairman and employee over the past eighty years will be looking at long prison sentences.
